I was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana, so you’d think I’d seen all our rapidly growing town has to offer. But after moving away for a bit, I came home with a whole new appreciation for the outdoors, my local community, and the beauty hidden in familiar places. 


Lately, I’ve made it my mission to explore more of the natural gems in and around Terre Haute—starting with some of our well-known (and underrated) parks. Fowler Park was the perfect place to begin.

Seeing Fowler Park through a Grown Perspective

For this session, I wanted to explore Fowler Park because of its unique scenery and beautiful cabins. I’ve been to Fowler Park many times growing up, attending events with tours of the cabins and learning about the significance of covered bridges in Indiana. But seeing it through a photographer’s eyes felt entirely different. My goal was to showcase the scenery I once took for granted as a romantic, peaceful backdrop for the love stories I now get to capture.

Why Fowler Park is Great for Photo Sessions


Whether you’re planning a session for a couple, a family, or an engagement, Fowler Park has so much variety to offer:


  • A sparkling lake
  • A wide variety of trees and seasonal flora
  • A gorgeous covered bridge
  • A historic cabin village (my personal favorite!)
  • A rolling hill
  • Structures for beautiful framing
  • An overgrown field

I arrived early to scout the best spots. I was immediately greeted by a welcome sign, then followed a winding sidewalk to a charming circle of rocks around a staged campfire. For a sunset session, I love facing west to get that warm golden glow through the trees. (Photographer tip: golden hour—the hour before sunset—is pure magic.)



I also love that it’s so easy to access great photo spots without a long walk from the parking lot. No hiking boots required!

Client Spotlight: Sierra & Halee


I’ve worked with Sierra and Halee before, and they always come dressed to impress. Sierra wore a gorgeous long tan dress (earth tones always pop in this setting!), and Halee kept it sleek and timeless with a darker button-up.


One of my favorite moments was when they sat by the staged campfire, playing hand games and laughing together—it felt so authentic and cozy. I also loved making use of the staircase and the rolling hill on the way to the bridge. We laid down my favorite red woven blanket for a pop of color, and the results were chef’s kiss.


We wrapped up in a dreamy overgrown field (which turned out to be a little muddy—oops!). Tip for photographers: park in the lot on the left instead of the right if you want a clean background.

I spent about 30 minutes exploring solo and another hour with my clients, and I still only scratched the surface of what Fowler Park offers. It’s one of the most underrated photo locations in Terre Haute, bursting with scenic backdrops, charming structures, and cozy little corners perfect for candid moments.
